Emre Ahmet Uçunoğlu, the newest member of Good People of Vitruta, answered the questions we directed to him.

Emre Ahmet, welcome! Let's introduce you to the Good People of Vitruta followers. Who is Emre Ahmet Uçunoğlu? How did it start, and how is it going?

I was born in Istanbul, and I’m 30 years old. I grew up in a family that traveled frequently due to work. After completing my undergraduate and graduate studies at Koç University and Boğaziçi University, I entered the business world, where I have held various roles in the finance departments of global companies for about nine years. During this time, I have lived in Istanbul, London, and Amsterdam. Traveling continuously is a great passion for me. Although the pandemic interrupted this, I hope to resume my international travels as soon as possible. One of my biggest hobbies is exploring and studying beer culture. I’m a true beer enthusiast. I even started sharing content from an Instagram account called @teddybeer_eu at one point, but it wasn’t something I could sustain. I hope I can dive into it more in the future because I really enjoy sharing my experiences.

Are you watching any series these days?

I mostly watch mini-documentary series or shows with 20-minute episodes to unwind after a stressful day. I’m currently watching Brooklyn 99 and Modern Family. Among the mini-series I’ve watched, I’d mention The Serpent and Behind Her Eyes.

Do you follow any podcasts regularly?
I mostly listen to sports-related podcasts. I can recommend Salon Sporu by my close friends Nihan Cabbaroğlu and Buğra Balaban. I’d also definitely suggest Kendimiz İçin Yapıyoruz, which Nihan hosts with her friends.

What books are you currently reading?

I recently read Paulo Coelho's The Pilgrimage, and it’s a book I’d recommend. At the moment, I’m thoroughly enjoying Zorba the Greek, a classic written by Nikos Kazantzakis in the 1940s.

We’re also curious about your favorite restaurants in Istanbul.

I love spending time in Topağacı. My favorite spot there is Efendi; it’s a place where you can always greet a few tables, which creates a special connection. Among restaurants, Alaf 2 Tek, which I recently discovered, left quite an impression on me. Additionally, I’d include Mürver and Aheste among my favorite restaurants.
